Physical Therapy

Corrective Exercises

Every patient is unique. Using corrective exercises and stretching is a great addition to chiropractic treatment. We use specific exercises that cater to each patient's condition. Performing these exercises can keep patient's muscles from pulling a spinal correction out of alignment. Not only are these exercises important in the office before a spinal manipulation but they are important at home too, to improve strength, posture and mobility.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Electrical muscle stimulation is a physical therapy modality that could be used during treatment. Electrodes are hooked up to a electric stimulation machine and are placed on the affected area on the patient. This modality is used to control inflammation and reduce muscle spasm. During this treatment endorphins are released which will help naturally decrease pain sensations in the affected area. Hot and cold packs can also be used during this treatment.

Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is a modality used in physical therapy. The waves from the ultrasound head create the effect of deep heat in your muscles and joints. The deep heat of ultrasound increases the blood flow to the area being treated, helping to decrease pain. Non-thermal ultrasound is used for more acute injuries. This kind of ultrasound helps speed up cellular processes and the healing of injured tissues.
